Dr. Mona Kakar, a graduate from Nair Hospital Dental College in the year 1986, had her priorities sorted out when she decided to get married to a senior fellow dentist Dr. Ajay Kakar in 1985 while still undergoing graduate training in dentistry. An obsession for music, singing in particular, saw her obtaining formal training in music along with her professional qualifications which continues till date.

She had an almost instantaneous transition from dental college to private practice along with her husband in Bombay. A few years of private practice found her thirsting for more knowledge, which led her to the IICER continuing education programs. One step at a time saw her becoming one of the first Indian female dentists to obtain a post graduate diploma from the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas.

Having the advantage of an in house Periodontist, she honed her skills in Endodontics and soon saw her expanding her clinic into a group practice. She now spends quite a bit of her time in imparting training programs in aesthetic dentistry as part of continuing dental education. Her tremendous liking for singing has earned her the alias of a singing dentist.
